A very rare and exquisite compound silk and metal thread textile fragment, circa 1600, Ming dynasty, China. This beautiful fragment displays a lattice containing meandering floral motifs within an octogan shaped grid, with large blossoms and boxed flowers. The organic dyes consist of a medium and teal blue, ivory and light copper, highlighted by gold and silver threads. The ground color is of pale crimson.
