A very rare antique women's chirpy (headcover), circa 1870 or before, Tekke nomads, Middle Amu Darya, Turkmenistan. Fine silk embroidery on silk, with silk fringes and block printed lining. Decorated with totomic symbols and stylized plant forms. The green color represents the woman's marital status. This rare mantel was worn over a woman's head with the sleeves being ornamental only, and hung down the back. A rare surviving example which is older than most. Excellent condition. SOLD
