An absolutely stunning example of a ikat chapan, circa 1880 or before, Fergana area, Uzbekistan. One of the best chapans I've seen and owned. Found in Karlsrule, Germany on one of my buying trips on a stop over on my way to Asia. Publlshed in 'Uzbekistan, Heirs to the Silk Road'. Thames & Hudson, pg.285 pl#490. I will never see another like it!
