A very beautiful silk ikat chapan, circa 1880 to 1900, Emirate of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Long known for their artistry producing stunning ikat and suzani work, this wonderful quilted chapan or overcoat, displays an amulet and pomergranite design with rich, saturated colors, Russian cotton chintz lining and slited openings at the wrist. It was most likely made was for a lady, as it is gathered or under the arms. There is also a light remnant of its original egg white glazing. The dimensions are 62"cuff to cuff x 48"ht (157cm x 120cm). A very collectable chapan in beautiful near original condition. Price on Request
