A wonderful example of a completely embroidered Kashmiri shawl, circa 1860, Srinagar, North India. The majority of all shawls from Srinagar during this era were hand loomed, with only parts of the center, corners and borders embroidered. The surface of this beautiful piece has been entirely hand embroidered with all vegetally dyed wool in a glorious array of wonderfully soft colors. Flowing 'boteh' type devices decorate each quarter, all radiating from a small, black center medallion. Condition is near pristine. Please contact us for dimensions and more detailed images.
