A fantastic antique men's ikat chapan, silk warp and weft with cotton chintz lining. All natural dyes. Beautifully embroidered indigo silk trim. 4th Qt. 19th century, Uzbekistan. The silk threads are bound, and a form of resist dyeing is implemented. Then the treads were woven together using hand looms. It took a number of men to operate the loom. An ancient, arduous and time consuming technique. This example displays a very rare design, and is in excellent condition. Contact us for more detailed images and dimensions. Price on Request
