A beautiful antique silk ikat 'chapan' or overcoat, late 19th century, Uzbekistan. This wonderful example displays a rare design and color combination, with a deep aubergine, sky blue, rose red and ivory. The warps and wefts are silk, and the trim is embroidered with teal green colored silk. All the dyes are from natural sources before being hand loomed. The lining is cotton of light plaid tones with shades of beige and brown with an ivory background. Price on Request
