SQ-#257 Hazara Silk Square
View Full Size Image 1 Image Avaliable

A very beautiful small silk embroidered square, circa 1920 or before, Hazara group, Eastern Afghanistan. Wonderfully fine workmanship, great design and unusual colors. I don't know what this was used for, most likely it was made to be attached as part of a garment, such as a shirt or blouse, or to be folded and made into a small coin purse or pouch. The wave design is very kinetic and wonderful. Interesting example about 10" or so square. Price on Request
