An ancient sandstone frieze, Bayon, 12th to 13th century, Cambodia. This example has a wonderful and joyous presence. The monkey is depicted blowing a trumpet, representing the sounding of the avatars to battle; in other words, the calling for wisdom to overcome ignorance. The color of the sandstone has a beautiful pinkish hue, and the condition and workmanship are excellent. It has been in our collection for over twenty years. Price on Request
