A magnificent, ancient grey schist stone depiction of a 'Bodhisattva', circa 2nd to 3rd century, Kushan period,  ancient region of Gandhara, Afghanistan/Pakistan border. This museum quality piece displays the Graeco-Bactrian style brought to Central Asia by the armies of Alexander. It is essentially the very first Buddhist art.
