A very beautiful "9 gul chuval", or transport bag, circa 1885, nomadic Yomut group, Turkmenistan. This example displays a wonderful array of colors, including an unusual teal blue. The guls are large and nicely drawn, as is the lower panel of floral forms. The work is extremely fine, the wool is lusturous and the piece has a soft floppy handle. The warps in the center are a mix of goat hair and cotton, which has created a bit different wear pattern and texture. An interesting and collectable chuval. Price on Request
