A beautiful saddlebag face produced by one of the five tribes of the Khamseh Confederation, circa 1900 or before, Fars Province, Southwest Persia. The square boxed center containing a star motif is surrounded by a white, hooked medallion. Serrated designs and filler motifs make up the field, all placed on a ground of deep indigo blue. The wool is silky and soft. The colors are all derived from organic sunstances, with a notable teal-green. The end finishes and closure tabs are all intact and the piece is in full pile condition.
