A beautiful example of nomadic weaving by one of the sub-tribes of the Khamseh groups, a 19th century confederation of five distinct tribal groups, established by the Persian Qajar government to offset the power of the neighboring Qashqai. Their weavings are known for their vivid natural dyes and excellent, glossy wool. This bagface has a design I personally refer to as 'abstract logic'; wonderfully naive, yet very complicated. The depth of color and complexity of design bring to mind a contemporary painting. This stunning example has much more of a free flowing, whimsical interpretation of this design than stiffly drawn, later examples. Though missing a bit from all sides, it certainly retains its charm. A collectable piece in good, presentable condition. Price on Request
