A beautiful antique 'jollar', circa 1910, Ersari group, Lower Amu Darya, Northern Afghanistan. This 'jollar' or trapping is unusual in the fact that the ground color is indigo blue, with an 'aksu' lattice design. Rarely does one find a blue ground Turkoman weaving. Also, the use of this design is much more commonly found in flat woven Turkoman weavings, as opposed to knotted pile. This example is in excellent, full pile condition, even retaining its fringes with grey and ivory netting. SOLD
