A beautiful 'chuval', or transport/storage bag, circa 1875, Ersari group, Lower Amu Darya, Turkmenistan/Afghanistan border area. Fabulous, saturated natural dyes, nice design and good condition for age. A wonderful range of colors have been used in the creation of this chuval; including a deep and medium indigo blue, madder red and clear yellow. The lowe skirt panel is very attractive as well. The wool is shiny and soft. The minor 'guls' are the same size as the majors, we has a nice effect. Some areas of wear and low pile, but a very collectable piece. Price on request.
