This is quite a beautiful and unique prayer rug, dated 1332 (circa 1917), Beshir Turkmen group, Kunduz area?, Northern Afghanistan. The rams horns, deep indigo ground and architectural elements distingush this handsome example from other prayer rugs of the Turkmen tribes of Northern Afghanistan. All the dyes appear to be from natural sources, and the wool is soft, glossy and lanolin rich. Being over one hundred years old, it is in excellent condition, needing only the knots of one end secured. The dimensions are 44" x 34" (112cm x 86cm). SOLD
