Rugs & Bags | Antique Baluch Star Balisht
A rare and beautiful Baluch group 'balisht' or grain storage bag, often stuffed used as pillows in a nomadic tent, circa 4th Qt.19th century, Sistan, Persia. This wonderful example displays a unique compartmented star design, I don't recall seeing previously in this format. The undyed camel wool is the perfect background for the use of madder red, teal green, deep plum, indigo blue and natural undyed ivory. Slight wear to the edges due to age and use, but overall condition is excellent. Even the beautifully abrashed backing remains intact. It is a difficult piece to photograph, but the most detailed images are the most accurate. This piece will even become more stunning after washing. The dimensions are 29" x 17". Price on Request
