SOLD The is an unusual example due to the fact it is most likely a 'sofreh' used during meal times the place food. It is like a tablecloth, only placed on a felt or larger rug, as a clean place to eat. The dimensions are approx; 40" square, too large to be a bagface. Piled examples of 'sofreh' are rare, as they're usually done in a flatwoven technique. The example displays a Turkoman type 'gul' design, with hooked-diamond minor 'gul'. It is symmetrically knotted, leading one to the conclusion it was woven by one of the Arab Baluch subtribes. All the dyes appear to be natural. Some wear and corrosion, and probably missing it's flatwoven end finishes. SOLD
