Rugs & Bags | Antique Baluch Prayer Rug
A classic camel ground prayer rug, circa late 19th century, Baluch group, Sarakhs area, Khorasan, Northeast Persia. Undyed camel wool was used in the field of this handsome prayer. The example displays a nicely drawn tree of life design, with each branch sprouting serrated leaves. Small botehs are used as filler motifs between the tree branches. The main inner border displays a diamond repeat design contained within quarted gul shapes, a motif often used in examples from this area. The condition is fair, and the wear is even throughout. The pile is low, but certainly can be used in a light traffic area and would look stunning on a wall. There are no repairs that I can see. The flatwoven ends are still intact which is a nice plus to find in a rug of this age. The dimensions are 68" x 36". SOLD
