A wonderful complete 'khorjin' or saddlebag, circa 1880's, Baluch nomads, Western Afghanistan. This example displays ivory 'Memling Gul' centers containing various filler motifs, placed on a beautiful olive brown ground. The wool is very soft and glossy. All the colors are natural, with a deep indigo blue, madder root, walnut husk, natural browns and ivory. This double bag retains its original backing, overcasted goathair sides and closure loops. The piece shows some corrosion, wear and creases, but overall condition is very good considering its age and use. A very collectable example. Price on Request
