Rugs & Bags | Antique Baluch Bird Bag Face
This is a very interesting and quite subtle 'bird' bagface, circa 4th Qt. 19th century, it appears to be from one of the sub-tribes of the Baluch in the Khorasan region of Eastern Persia. This is the most subtly designed 'bird' bag I've seen. The peacocks are barely discernable, hidden within the rich, dark pallette of the field. The wool is soft and velvet-like and the handle has a very pleasing quality. This example was produced with beautiful organic dyes and excellent silky wool. The condition is fair, with wear and loss to some of the edges and corner. It has very good age and still retains much charm. The dimensions are 27"wd. x 25"ht. This is an unusual and collectable example, which is nicer than the photos indicate. SOLD
