A very beautiful bagface, 4th quarter 19th century, probably 'Timuri' group, Baluch nomads, Western Afghanistan. Displaying a somewhat rare design with an ivory quarted diamond center, placed on a deep indigo field, surrounded by flowerheads and filler motifs and a number of whimsically drawn hidden animals. Very silky wool and floppy handle. Also a nice rendition of the 'stars and bars' border. Wonderful flatwoven ends still intact. Very collectable example. Price on Request
