A very nice antique Baluch group bagface, all natural dyes, circa 1880 or before, Western Afghanistan. A square center drawing, as opposed to the commom octagon shape, found in the majority of these bags. Hooked devices radiate from a star center, with zoomorphfic horned figures decorating the corners, which are then surrounded by a repeating star field. A nicely drawn ivory border guard frames the piece. This example has a nice sculpted appeance, due to the deep corrosion of the browns over time. Some wear to areas. A nice, old collectable example.
