This is a beautiful fragment from and Afshar 'chanteh' or valuables bag, late 19th century, South Persia. Made with all natural colors and glossy wool. A cruciform center is surrounded by a serrated leaf design and various filler motifs decorate the field. The border is drawn with stylized flowerheads and a vine meandor. This 'chanteh' is missing from all sides, but nonetheless, still a charming example. SOLD
