This beautiful saddle bagface dates to around 1880. It was produced by the nomadic Afshar tribe which inhabited the regions of Kerman Province during the 19th century. The design most likely was created from the memory of a nomadic woman who came to trade her wears in Kerman, influenced by the more classical city rugs produced in that city. She then returned home and wove her own interpretation of a flowering vase design. It would have been nice to see the complete 'khorjin' she created, with the closures, backing and finishes. At least, this beautiful example has survived. SOLD
