SOLD An early prayer rug of the Doktar-e-Ghazi subtribe of Baluch, circa 1870 or before, Western Afghanistan. Everything about this example points to age, from the archaic pointed 'mihrab' design, to the top border which extends to meet the corners at the top of the spandrels, to the saturated natural dyes and fine, floppy handle. This is one of a group of very old examples, which is certainly older than most surviving prayer rugs from this subtribe. A very collectable example for the Baluchophile. SOLD
