This antique main carpet was made by Kurds on the Veramin plateau around 1850, Central North Persia. It displays an amazing range and depth of color, from multiple shades of teal and indigo, various shades of madder, to an amazing clear yellow and apricot. The quality of materials that went into the making of this piece would lead one to think it was made for use within the family and not for trade, or possibly made for a khan or high ranking person.
