This is quite a stunning example of an embroidered wedding 'gaj', appears to be from either the Malduri or Sameja Jat groups, NE Kutch, India. The work is very fine, with silk embroidered panels in 'pakkoh' ridged stitch on a printed cotton and satin ground. Buttonhole stitches enclose mica mirrors, added to protect the wearer from evil spirits. The colors are rich and beautiful. The condition is very good and it's a nice, colorful example. The dimensions are 31" arm to arm x 29"long. Price on Request
