A semi antique finely embroidered 'gaj' or dress front, circa 1940, Tharparkar region of Sindh, Pakistan. A beautiful example of silk embroidery on cotton ground dislaying various traditional stitches such as soof, pakkoh, laid and couched, kacho and bottonhole stitches among others. Mica mirrors are were also added to protect the wearer and ward off evil spirits. There are three beautiful shades of green, along with yellow, orange, ivory and light pink. This gaj is in very nice condition and a beautiful example of Sindhi needlework. It measures 30" x 21"wd. (76cm x 53cm). Price on Request
