A beautifully embroidered blouse front, Mid 20th century, Halepota group, Sindh Province, South Pakistan. Silk embroidery on soft 'alwan' cotton ground. This group inhabits the Indus Delta region and is known for their work using the 'kharek' stitch embroidery technique, coupled with other stitches such as the 'running' stitch. The work is layered from the front by counting the ground threads, then running parallel stitches. This technique has a very distinctive appearence. Mica mirrors have also been used, to protect the wearer from evil spirits. This is very nice, though later example in excellent condition. The dimensions are; 29"long x 18"inches wide. SOLD
