Embroidery India/Pakistan | Antique Embroidered Blouse Front (Gaj)

Antique, silk embroidered blouse front (gaj), circa early 20th century, Lohana or Meghwar group, Tharparkar region, Sindh, Pakistan. This 'gaj' has been heavily emboidered with polychrome silk using the 'pakkah' stitch and adorned with mica mirrors to protect the owner. The embroidery work is done on khaddar cotton cloth. Roundels of flowers decorate the shoulders, while various floral forms grace the lower portions. A handsome and collectable example with good age in excellent condition. SOLD
