SOLD This is a very beautiful example of a hand block printed 'ajrakh' men's headcover or shawl, circa 1940's, Upper Sindh area of Pakistan. Employing techniques for production that combine resist dying and hand carved wooden block printing, it's production can be traced to wellover a thousand years. Some experts speculate many thousands of years. This beautiful example displays the saturated organic dyes that distinguishes it from its later mass produced counterparts. With designs influenced by Muslim architecture, this is a classic example which older than most, and in nice condition. The center seam has been joined with fine polychrome cotton. This exquisite piece makes for a wonderful shawl, spread, throw or table cover. The dimensions are 91" x 64" (231cm x 162cm). A handsome and collectable example. SOLD
