This is a beautiful antique roomal or rumal, also know as 'thalposh', circa early 20th century, Sindh province, SE Pakistan. These embroideries were used as coverlets and to wrap dowry gifts during the time of the wedding. This example uses a very fine thread counting technique called 'soof', or 'kacho' stitches to create the geometric patterns in silk. There are some old patches, staining and wear, but this 'thalposh' retains much charm even with the defects. It measures 29" x 28". Price on Request
