A very beautiful silk embroidered 'gaj' or tunic, Lohana group, most likely commisioned from Meghwar embroiderers of the same area. The dimensions are 32"ht x 25"wd. It is first half 20th century, circa 1940's, and I believe to to be from the Badin area of Sindh, Pakistan. It displays gorgeous silk embroidery in a number of varying stitches, but mainly employing the 'pakkoh' stitch. This wonderful example also has been embellished with tufts of silk, and mica mirrors. Small beads attached to small metal disks hang along the bottom edge which jingle with movement and make a light, wonderful sound. This 'gaj' is in excellent condition. It is a wonderful example that would make an excellent addition to any collection. SOLD
