A beautiful antique 'bagh' or headcover known a 'Vari-da-bagh', circa 1920's-30's, West Punjab, India. Fine floss silk embroidery on khaddar cotton ground. Large monochrome diamonds containing smaller diamonds decorate the field. The subtle design is created by the way in which the silk is layed on the surface, which then reflects light differently. The borders are drawn with multi-colored diamonds. The embroiderer worked from the backside by counting threads to create the intended design. 'Vari-da-bagh' were made by the groom's mother or grandmother for the bride to wear during special events and religous ceremonies. Excellent condition. SOLD
