This chola (blouse front or bodice), circa 1930's, is from the Kutch area of Gujarat, India. This young girl's blouse front displays beautiful handwork in mostly hurmitch stitch, along with bottonhole and chain stitches. Mica mirrors were used to protect the wearer from evil spirits. The ground cotton material is of a beautiful, indigo dyed handspun cotton. Masru, a blend of silk and cotton decorates each side of the waist. The dimensions are 36"cuff to cuff x 17"ht x 13"width under the arms. A charming and collectable example. Price on Request
