A very unique kantha, dating to circa 1900, undivided Bengal. A small mandala has been placed in the center, with a plant form to its left. Two large human figures under what appear to be an architectural structure dominate the lower half of the field, surrounded by growing foliage. Various horizontal border motifs run parallel to one another, creating a very unusual layout. The amazing quilting creates a ripple effect throughout the entire surface. All material used were recycled from old family sari and dhoti garments, even the threads. A wonderful, antique example. There are a few old repairs. Price on Request
