This is a fantastic 'aba' (abho) or women's dress, circa 1890's, Memon Muslim community of Banni Kutch, Gujarat, India. A rare and stunning example with the finest silk embroidery on a red satin silk ground. All of the dyes are from natural sources. It has also been embellished with minute mica mirrors. There is a white cotton lined pocket on the right side. Finely embroidered with slik threads in button-hole, chain and back stitch. It is the smallest work of any piece I've owned, just incredible! The is some corrosion of the white color due to age, and some very light staining in a few spots, otherwise the condition is excellent. This is a very collectable museum quality example. It measures 45" cuff to cuff x 49" long x 46" at bottom hem. Price on Request
