A very beautiful cotton embroidered animal trapping, circa mid 20th century or before, Banjara community, probably Madhya Pradesh, Central India. This an unusual example worked in brick and cross stitches on a cotton ground. It was likely used to decorate the forehead of a bullock or oxen during an Indian festival. The embroidery is fine, the colors beautiful and the condition is excellent. The dimensions are 9"across x 7"ht. without the decorative cowries and cotton tassels. The tie strings also remain intact. A unique and very collectable example. Price on Request
