SOLD* A beautiful and unusual applique 'pulia' or neck cover, circa mid 20th century, Banjara community, Madhya Pradesh, Central India. This splendid example has been wonderfully appliqued in white and yellow on a red ground with charming flowers and enclosed by zigzag motifs worked in brick stitch. The borders are done in dyed indigo cotton and white, a more traditional motif and color combination. The condition is very good, but the 'pulia' is missing a number of cowrie shells from the exterior. The dimensions are approx: 15" x 9". SOLD
