Textiles of the Banjara | Antique Banjara Square Cloth

This is a very fine cotton cross stitch embroidered square cloth coverlet, circa early 20th century, Karnataka, South India. This wonderful coverlet displays four compartmented squares, each showing different designs. The smaller designs are all made up of various sized squares, a trait of a large percentage of Banjara work. The embroidery is of very fine cross stitch and the colors appear to all be natural. There has been some darns and areas repaired with patches. However, if presents well, and remains a collectable and unique example. The dimensions are 22" x 20". Price on Request
