Textiles of the Banjara | Antique Banjara Pulia

A wonderful antique 'pulia', or neck covering used when hauling water from the well, circa early 20th century, Karnataka, South India. The work is small and refined, and the natural colors clear and pleasing, employing a lighter pallette than many embroideries from the same area. It displays beautiful use of esparek yellow and a very soft green. The blue ground border has been nicely decorated with a whimsical zigzag design. The condition is nice, but most likely missing a border across the top. The piece could use a gentle wash which I would be happy to do if requested. It would make the colors even nicer. This 'pulia' measures 10.5" x 9". Price on Request
