This is a very beautiful 'pulia' or neck cover, circa 1940's or before, Banjara community, Madhya Pradesh, Central India. This is a wonderfully colorful example which displays fabulous vegetable dyes in an array of clear and saturated colors. The cotton embroidery is very fine and the condition is very good, though it appears to be missing one or two cowrie shells. It measures 9" x 11" without the cowrie shells. A crisp and collectable example of true ethnographic art. Price on Request
