SOLD* This is a very lovely 'pulia', or neck cover, Lambani group of the Banjara community, Karnataka, South India. This exquisite example consists of fine cotton embroidery on a cotton ground in chain, satin and herring bone stitches. The colors are from natural dyes and the work is fine and precise. Cowrie shells decorate the exterior. There is a small darn near the center, otherwise the condition is very good. The 'gala' measures 11 1/2" x 8 1/2". A very handsome and collectable example.
