SOLD* A very beautiful embroidered 'pulia' used to cover the nape of the neck when hauling water from the well, circa early 20th century, probably Lambani group, Karnataka, South India. Very fine cotton embroidery on cotton, with soft harmonious organic colors. Chain stitch, satin stitch and tight herringbone stitches have been used. Cowrie shells and tassles have been used to decorate the exterior. Very nice condition for its age. The piece measures 11" x 8.5" not including the shells and tassels. SOLD
