A beautifully appliqued animal trapping or headdress, circa 1930's, Banjara community, Madhya Pradesh, Central India. This is a somewhat unique example, as I've haven't seen or handled many appliqued bullock headdresses. This wonderful piece has been adorned in with cowrie shells around the exterior. The colors are soft and mellowed with age. A charming piece made with love for one lucky bullock or nandi bull, ('nandi' means to give delight) thought to be Shiva's animal form. This is certainly a piece which gives delight! It measures 8"wd x 6"ht without the cowries. The ties are still attached. Price on Request
