SOLD* This is a beautiful and quite unusual 'pulia gala', a neck cover and ring which is placed on top of the head for supporting the water pot. This wonderful artifact was made by a woman of the Banjara community, circa mid 20th century or before, Madhya Pradesh, Central India. This example has been embroidered with polychrome cotton on an indigo blue and madder dyed cotton ground. The ring has also been bound in indigo cotton and decorated with cowrie shells. The condition is excellent for an item of this age and use. The dimensions are 20" x 7"wd. without the tassels and cowries. A handsome piece in fine condition. SOLD
